Bancroft adds seasoned Project Manager

August 9, 2021

Bancroft Architects + Engineers have announced the hiring of Ms. Darlene Flook, adding to their staff of Project Managers with extensive construction experience.  Flook is a licensed Interior Designer and certified Project Manager with more than 20 years’ experience leading successful design-build teams.  The last 15 years of her career have been spent in healthcare, where she has led projects as an Architectural Project Manager, an Interiors Architect, and Owner’s Representative.

Ken Monroe, Bancroft’s Director of Projects, is proud to have recruited Flook to the company.  “Darlene and I have been colleagues over the years and I have always considered her to be among the finest Project Managers I have ever known.  Because Bancroft has made such incredible improvements in the last couple of years, I knew she would be a worthy addition.  She is an upgrade to both our Interiors team and to our Project Management staff.”

Flook has led projects all over the world, including across the United States and as distant as the United Arab Emirates.  Her key projects include entire high-rise renovations, Security Command Center redesigns, Operating Theatre IT integration, Royal Safety protocols, and the operation of a 4.4 million square foot Joint Commission International-accredited, greenfield, government hospital.

“My focus is on consistently improving the quality of the Project Management team,” said John Robbins, Bancroft’s Vice President for Projects.  “I’ve done that through a program of training, infrastructure improvement, and upgrades to personnel.  Twice so far this summer my Project Management team has gone on retreat to be trained as a team by the McChrystal Group.  I have had to replace Project Managers who were incapable of meeting the needs of our exacting clients in this demanding environment.  Darlene is a shining example of upgrading our staff to meet the needs of our clients.”

Flook’s hiring furthers Bancroft’s commitment to hiring and empowering with leadership positions women, minorities, and persons with disabilities.  “As a disabled Veteran, I am acutely aware of the challenges that persons with disabilities face in the job market,” said Paul Jenkins, Bancroft’s President and CEO.  Flook is the third person with disabilities Bancroft has hired this year, including two additional disabled Veterans.

A native of Chicago’s south suburbs, Flook holds a BFA in Interior Design from the Illinois Institute of Art.
