Several control room stations at US Steel were outdated and in need of newer technology, with controls and HMIs dating back to the 1950s. Pulpit W, Pulpit H and Pulpit Y were the focus of the project. The solution by Bancroft-AE focuses on streamlining and simplifying the pulpit systems, by integrating the HMI and computer system controls via a demountable wall and display system made from unistrut and stainless steel panels. The project scope also includes wall mounted LCD screens and epoxy coating the existing concrete floor and electrical systems. Bancroft-AE also provided construction management services, overseeing the construction during a limited 100-hour plant shutdown.
