This renovation project established 11 isolated hemodialysis patient care stations, responding to the need for flexible hospital spaces in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. The layout includes a central monitoring area for staff, surrounded by individual patient care rooms equipped with negative air isolation at each station.
Key features of the project include increased patient capacity, the installation of patient lifts at all stations, and a design that utilized existing utilities to minimize costs. Mechanically, the project replaced critical systems including Air Handling Units, piping, and pumps, and installed new steam-to-water heat exchangers with redundancy. All necessary Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA) measures were implemented to minimize disruption to ongoing hospital functions.
