Parking Lot - Chicago Air Route Traffic Control Center

The Chicago Air Route Traffic Control Center is an en-route facility with air-space overlying six Midwestern States and providing air traffic services to the Chicago and Milwaukee metropolitan areas and numerous underlying approach control facilities. The facility handles approximately 3 million aircraft operations per year with a staff of 500 operational personnel.

Bancroft was the prime contractor for this critical design-build project that updated the ACTCC transition parking lot to a modern, expandable facility.  In addition to the engineering required for the initial surface lot, Bancroft provided the architectural design for the phased vertical expansion. The green-field design included a full assessment of unmarked underground infrastructure. The design included EV charging stations with solar panels and stored energy solutions.

The scope of the work includes providing the parking lot design consisting of 54 typical parking spaces and three handicapped spaces over a total paved area of 2,820 square yards. Engineering services include electrical (with utility verification), civil, environmental, surveying, and least-impact-to-end-users scheduling.
