Bancroft Architects + Engineers was responsible for the programming of 7,000 SF of flexible laboratory space and research offices for the Department of Pathology at Northwestern’s Feinberg School of Medicine.
The work included the removal of existing interior walls and laboratory casework to create a new open lab concept meant to foster greater collaboration, flanked by tissue culture and microscopy support spaces. Lab benches include adjustable benchtops for greater flexibility. Offices around the building perimeter were upgraded with new finishes and furniture.
The MEP program provided upgraded HVAC distribution and air control valves and new low air returns for tissue culture areas. Systems for sprinklers, plumbing waste and supply, medical gasses, and deionized water are extended from central risers to support the new floor plan. The new space is supported by a renovated electrical CAT5E distribution.
